The basics of a flop strategy when you play with two over cards are to call only when you are almost certain that you will improve your hand. Raise if your flop has a high kicker with a top pair. But if the kicker is bad or even just average try to determine if the bet will be too risky. You may have a good chance in winning the hand if several other players call.

When you have a quad or straight flush you should use the same strategy of invoking a slow play into a showdown. When you slowplay you trick your opponents into thinking you do not have that good of a hand.
